My mom and I did some extensive hiking in the Ozarks in north Arkansas right after Christmas 2009.  It was quite beautiful even without any leafs on the trees.  I was itching to do some colder weather hiking and this fit the bill perfectly!  For most of the trip we stayed in this awesome cabin close to the Buffalo National River.  Our first hike was our biggest, The Compton Trail loop.  We also hiked bits of the Ozark Highlands Trail.
